Life Narratives

Life Lately | Seasons of 2022: Hello Metro, Social Circles, and Level-Up Adulting

Hello lovelies! ๐ŸŒธ Welcome to my personal narrative series entitled ๐“›๐“ฒ๐“ฏ๐“ฎ ๐“›๐“ช๐“ฝ๐“ฎ๐“ต๐”‚. You will get to know me better about my real-life whereabouts and inspirations in my own nutshell and adventures. I am about to tell you that . . . O – M – G! 2022 is already ending just like that! There are so many things that I would like to share with you dear readers every passing quarter of this year. However, I never get the luxury of time to publish an updated blog post because of having a full-time job (on-site) this year.

Being blessed with ample vacation time, I now get this chance to write basically a review of what happened in 2022. There is a higher leap in progress dealing with the pandemic as more people now have the liberty to travel far and casually meet friends and families. Is this already the better normal?

In numerology, 22 is one example of an angel number. I want to believe that my angels have successfully guided me the entire 2022 in every step.

As I continue to do my freelance writing and editing job, it is also my intention this year to be back in a full-time teaching job for financial security and professional growth. When a volunteer teaching (online) was near the doorstep, I took the chance to see if I can still manage to be a teacher. That was the intention at first but eventually, it made me realize that in a way I was able to touch the life of a student. Education is his (the student) only hope to advance in life. [see full story here] Despite all my discomfort in this profession, the universe keeps me swinging back like a boomerang in this field amidst all my initial attempts to let go of it. Now, it was clear to me that this is my call of duty – no buts.

The spring season also gave me the chance to start a new friendship and reconnect with some. Upon reflecting on the social circles I have, I must say that some are growing apart, some are meeting in between and some are a foreshadowing of my future. As an adult, it is more liberating and sensible to just go with the flow when it comes to relationships of any kind. I shared a past experience with one new friend, the perks of freelancing with a Gen Z friend, and a connection to a future job with a teacher friend. Having a variety of connections from different ages and expertise made me learn different outlooks and strategies towards life. Embrace the impermanence. Measure life in moments.

The Duffer brothers, writers of Stranger Things, leave me in awe this season 4 both vol. 1 and 2. It is well written that I can’t wait for the ending season! Haha. Watching it in May 2022 was so much fun and thrilling and sharing it with a friend from abroad who is also an avid fan. hehe

For the first time, we have a cat at home named Kuro. ๐Ÿ˜ธ

I officially left the comforts of working from home. Braving the pandemic scare just because I am fully vaccinated now. Freelancing has been so cozy and chill but I need an extra challenge this time. It all happened in the middle of the year, June – July. There is no expectation of working in a distant school but it is the first one to accept my application. My mantra is to grab the first one. The process went so smoothly and even the medical exam is for free which is so rare in all my previous work experience. After the week of the interview, I am back in the ball game of teaching.

Hello Metro traffic! I’ve been experimenting with my commute journey from Cavite to Manila in the first month of my job. For someone who stayed in the province working for at least 5 years, it is indeed a great adjustment. It felt like an everyday field trip because I need to wake up at 4 am every day just to be on time. Haha! I am just getting used to it. Looking forward to exploring more the city. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Autumn 2022

The season of Autumn is the most eventful and stressful for this year. At this moment I questioned myself if I am still a normal human. Haha! Aside from adjusting to the new environment, we have a lot of simultaneous activities in school such as events, online training, exam/class preps, teaching substitution, and lesson plan making. Thank you for being courageous and resilient, dear self! *hugs*

I promise to give you a sweet reward in 2023. ๐Ÿ™‚ #selflove

Celebrating Halloween as a school event is a new experience. I observe it needs a lot of work but of course, by the end, it is fulfilling to see how the students at least enjoyed it. The opportunity to accomplish the Cambridge Literature in English online training is a blessing for professional development. I do appreciate this one because it is a rare and expensive opportunity.

In the world of music, my favorite artists Charlie Puth and Taylor Swift released new albums. Charlie’s music antics via IG or TikTok are always a delight. He is my pandemic-era crush. Haha! I am proud that finally, he gets to release an album. My top favorite is “No Drama”! Of course, Taylor Swift never disappoints so the release of Midnights is expected. I love “Lavender Haze” and “Bejeweled”. I do hope I can do guitar covers again because this year I lack leisure time for music. ๐Ÿ™

Winter 2022

December is the actual start of winter (in other parts of the world). I am simply thankful for this warm winter in 2022. For the first time, we have a nativity display or “Belen” (Filipino term) instead of a Christmas tree. (so lucky to pick the right seller online!)

Like most teachers, Christmas gifts are overflowing. Though it felt different in the past years I don’t receive so much gifts. Thanks for the thought! It only means I need to exert more effort this time. Haha! Since my cup is full, I am able to share more with my family, friends, the church, and even strangers. Thank you, God and universe for the grace and abundance. One more, thanks for the Starbucks gift card! haha. Cheers to more coffee-ing + social climbing!

Ultimately, I love having this much-needed break this December! I get to meet again several friends whom I wasn’t able to meet during the pandemic. Waaah! ๐Ÿฅณ

Thank you for the new beginning, steady finance, and wild rides in 2022! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿฅฐ
